Self-Love; Your Key To Happiness
/It’s that time of year again when we get to celebrate LOVE all month long. While everyone else may be caught up in thinking about cupid, at Therapeutic Bodywork we’re focused on self-love. We are so passionate about self-love because all love starts with self-love and as we deepen our love for ourselves, we deepen the love we share with others. The relationship we have with ourselves, sets the tone for all the other relationships we have in our lives. Cultivating more self-love, means you can give more love unconditionally to others. Now, isn’t that a beautiful cycle.
But self-love isn’t something that always comes easy. For many of us it can feel unfamiliar and challenging, particularly if we have a natural tendency to be hard on ourselves. Like most things related to your health and well being, self-love is a practice that takes patience, time and commitment to cultivate. So, how do you get started?
Self-love builds out of our own thoughts and actions. So if we behave like we love ourselves, our brains will follow suit and generate feelings to match those actions. Small, simple acts of prioritizing ourselves and our own self-care, sends signals to our subconscious that we are worthy of LOVE. Placing a high value on our own happiness and well being is a strong message of self-love.
These simple acts don’t have to be fancy or sophisticated. They just have to be consistent and intentional. We call these little acts, one daily promise.
Here are a few examples of what one daily promise could look like:
Lotion your body after the shower
Book yourself a Self-Love Bundle
Make yourself a cup of tea and sit and enjoy it
Go to bed 15 minutes earlier
Make yourself a nourishing meal and sit down to eat it
Get some sunshine on your face - even for 5 minutes
Stretch for 20 minutes
Lie down for 5 minutes with your hand on your heart and belly and just breathe
Give yourself an at home facial with your favorite mask
Purchase a LOVE box - just for yourself
Self-love isn’t about making a decision to love yourself. It’s simply acting like you love yourself - over and over again. Actions speak louder than words and soon you will find that self-love will flow though you.
What will be your daily promise today?
